The Ruby Falls Headquarters is a 14,500 SF mass timber office building located on Lookout Mountain in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Designed to support flexible workspaces and wellness-focused amenities, the project showcases mass timber as a sustainable and efficient structural solution while pursuing LEED Silver certification.
Sterling Structural provided design assist and delegated engineering services in collaboration with KPFF, supporting the mass timber structural system from early coordination through detailed engineering. The team worked collaboratively with the architect, engineer of record, and installer to develop the custom trusses, refining member layouts and optimizing connection details for constructability and ease of installation. A key scope enhancement included modifying a traditional CMU shaft to a CLT shaft, reducing construction duration and simplifying overall project coordination.
