Michaela specializes in business development, strategy, standards compliance and engineering within the forest products and sustainable construction sectors. Her prior experience includes leading the R&D/Strategy department for a structural round timber manufacturer, serving as the engineered wood products and sustainable forestry expert for an international certification body and managing algorithm development for construction sustainability software. Her work has been published in Structures Magazine and in 2021 presented to Wisconsin State Government officials making the case for mass timber building code updates to support Wisconsin’s woodland economies. Michaela holds a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering focused on Sustainable Building from Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Helsinki, Finland.
Marc Rivard is a licensed Structural and Professional Engineer in the State of California, Massachusetts, and New Hampshire and is currently a Mass Timber Specialist with Sterling Structural where he provides technical project support, technical sales, and design assistance for cross laminated timber projects. From 2014-2023 he was the Regional Director for WoodWorks where he provided project assistance for light framed wood and mass timber projects, and provided Continuing Educational seminars for Engineers and Architects on various wood design topics. From 2000-2014 Marc practiced as a Senior Structural Engineer in California with experience primarily involving seismic structural design and analysis of new and existing structures for numerous building types.
Archie lives in Racine, Wisconsin and is responsible for business development and sales at Sterling Structural in Phoenix, IL. Sterling Structural is a CLT manufacturer. He has been active in the wood and structural building component industry for over fifty years. He has extensive experience with lumber, timber, structural wood panels, prefabricated wall panels, wood trusses, engineered wood products, masstimber and structural insulated panels. He has held various sales and sales management positions in the wood truss and engineered wood products industry. Most recently Archie was the North Central Regional Director for WoodWorks from 2008 until 2022.
Archie has assisted on hundreds of projects. These are a few Mass Timber buildings: Ascent in Milwaukee, T-3 in Minneapolis, MSU S.T.E.M. in Lansing, MI, 1036 West Fulton Market in Chicago, Intro in Cleveland and 111 E Grand in Des Moines.
Archie is an active and participating member of the American Institute of Architects, Association of Licensed Architects, Construction Specifications Institute, Forest Products Society, Structural Engineers Associations, National Frame Builders Association, Structural Building Component Association,Structural Insulated Panel Association and collaborates with the Forest Products Lab in Madison, Wisconsin and several universities.
Jeff is a licensed structural engineer and general contractor based in Florida, where he has applied his diverse expertise in construction and design since 2007. His extensive knowledge spans all construction materials, viewed through both engineering and contractor perspectives. Over the past decade, he has played a pivotal role in the light-frame and mass timber sectors, notably contributing at WoodWorks. There, he provided crucial technical support to developers, as well as design and construction teams involved in commercial and multi-family wood building projects.
His regional expertise has made Jeff a highly sought-after speaker at AEC and university events. He serves as a valuable resource for Authorities Having Jurisdiction and actively participates in local initiatives aimed at advancing wood building design. In his current role as a Mass Timber Specialist with Sterling Structural, he continues to support the AEC community by providing technical sales and design support on CLT projects across the country.
